Overview:
ChoZen Retreat is seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Lead to join our team and support our on-site Maintenance Manager. The successful candidate will ensure the functionality, comfort, and safety of our facilities by performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing urgent repair needs, and ensuring all systems operate efficiently and effectively. This role demands a broad skill set across various trades, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and a strong adherence to safety and environmental standards, contributing to the serene and sustainable environment that ChoZen Retreat provides for its guests.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the functionality and safety of buildings, equipment, and facilities throughout ChoZen Retreat.
Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues such as lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, and appliances. Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards. Preference for experience with low voltage and solar systems.
Utilize carpentry skills to repair or construct structures, furniture, and fixtures as needed. Perform tasks such as framing, drywall repair, painting, and finishing work.
Address plumbing issues including leaks, clogs, and fixture repairs. Conduct routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify potential problems and implement preventive maintenance measures.
Maintain and repair equipment used for landscaping, farming, and maintenance activities. This may include lawn mowers, tractors, power tools, and irrigation systems.
Perform routine maintenance on HVAC units, many of which are older, to ensure they are operating efficiently and cost-effectively.
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks. Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational health standards.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of supplies and equipment. Communicate effectively with management regarding maintenance needs and priorities.
Perform landscape maintenance tasks as needed to ensure the aesthetic and functional quality of the outdoor areas.
Qualifications
Proven experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field. Specific experience with HVAC systems is required.
Proficiency in electrical, carpentry, and plumbing. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and repair issues independently.
Appropriate trade certifications or licenses are highly desirable.
Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with team members and management.
Capable of performing physical labor, including lifting heavy objects.
Availability to work flexible hours and participate in emergency maintenance responses as needed.
Competency with computer systems, including Excel and Google Suite.
Bilingual abilities are a plus but not mandatory.

Working Conditions
This role involves both indoor and outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.
The position includes physical activities and the operation of machinery.
